Community Sailing

Experience the beauty of Belfast Harbor aboard a classic seventeen-foot O’day sailboat.  We invite you to have a sailing lesson or sit back, relax and just enjoy the sights. If you want to join in the action and haul some lines, that’s great too. All experience and ability levels are welcome.

Our Skippers

Lew McGregor

Lew is a seasoned sailor who stepped up to help get our sailing program underway again. He enjoys taking folks out on the water and has generously volunteered the use of his both his sailboat and his time.  Without him, our sailing program would still be “in irons”.  Thanks, Lew!

Laura Sheinkopf

Laura learned to sail at summer camp as a kid, taught sailing at the same camp, and raced competitively in college. She has taught children and adults to sail in settings ranging from urban riverways to coastal harbors, to rural lakes. Laura loves empowering others to feel confident managing a boat and reading the wind, while finding enjoyment and thrill in moving through the water.

Summer Sailing (June, July. August, September)

In 2021, you can sign up for sails online through the rower/sailor login portal on this website. Look for posted sails on “Teal Mobile.” We can take up to 3 passengers per sail (or 4, if one or two are children). Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Times for sails are subject to change depending on weather conditions; we will contact you in case of a time change or cancellation.
